09/12/2006 intermediate KRadio Snapshot-2006-09-20 available, (ChangeLog)
Finally, after some really busy time at work and shifting appartments, etc., I managed to spend some time of my vacations on kradio again. The result: A new plugin for basic streaming support (currently only raw format, but hopefully easily extensible for internet radio) that now allows PVR radio cards to be controlled completely by kradio, including /dev/video24. Furthermore, some important bug fixes have been included, particularly one for the station editing configuration page and a fix for the high CPU load problem which was caused by broken LIRC pipes. For details about the changes please have a look into the ChangeLog file. Please be aware, that from this release on, kradio will only compile properly using unsermake.
Please test and report problems, errors but also success ;-)
12/04/2005 intermediate KRadio Snapshot_2005_12_04 available, (ChangeLog)
In addidtion to snapshot 2005_11_27, snapshot 2005_12_04 provides a bugfix for a typo in configure.in.in which prevented the correct installation of kradio plugins. KRadio Snapshot_2005_11_27 provided few small bugfixes for nerving bugs like the tooooo big configuration dialog and high memory consumption. I'm sorry for the long delay since the last releases, I'm currently very busy at work. Might be, that a few snapshots with very little changes will follow before the first 1.0rc release. For details have a look into the ChangeLog.
Please test and report errors!
08/28/2005 KRadio 1.0beta3b available, (ChangeLog)
KRadio 1.0beta3b provides a few important fixes. A bug prevented that changes in the station list were recognized/saved. Furthermore, kradio should now recognize the session end and power off / save the state properly. The Mute/ZeroVolume behaviour on power off is now configurable (some radio card's do not mute automatically, but not all users like muted/zeroed mixer channels ). For details have a look into the ChangeLog.
Please test and report errors!
08/13/2005 KRadio 1.0beta2 available, (ChangeLog)
KRadio 1.0beta2 provides a new ALSA plugin, lots of fixes, with special respect to the makefile build system. Thanks a lot to Marcus Camen and Dirk Mueller. Please test and report errors!
05/22/2005 KRadio is alive again - 1.0beta1 available, (ChangeLog)
After a long time of slowed down development and major sound backend and plugin management rework, here is finally kradio-1.0beta1 with new features. The CVS module on SourceForge is now called kradio3 to reflect the major changes. Please test and report errors!
06/14/2004 KRadio Maintainer for Mandrake: Charles A. Edwards
I'm happy to announce that Charles A. Edwards is maintaining KRadio packages for Mandrake! You can now download up-to-date Mandrake packages from his home page on http://www.eslrahc.com
06/14/2004 Compile-Fix for GCC 3.4
Thanks a lot to Stefanos Harhalakis for this patch against kradio-0.3.0-snapshot-2004-02-28, that fixes compile errors with gcc-3.4.
02/28/2004 New Snapshot 2004-02-28 available (ChangeLog)
Finally the segmentation faults that ocurred on application exit or station scan end are fixed. These segfaults were triggered by some compilers that used improper call of virtual methods in destructors of template classes.

Other changes focus on GUI and recording/encoding improvements. Please test and report problems! Thanks.

02/17/2004 New Snapshot available (MP3 recording added)
Since my free time for KRadio is currently very limited and there are still some unsolved issues, alpha3 will be further delayed. To provide some bug fixes and long requested features, here is a recent snapshot.

This snapshot should fix some compile time problems under KDE 3.0 and a segfault after station scan. New features are MP3 recording and alarms configurable for a set of specific weekdays.

Please test and report problems! Thanks.

P.S.: For all those who sent preset files - I have to apologize, due tue my lack of time they're not yet in this snapshot, but they're not forgotten. Thanks for your patience.

09/14/2003 KRadio 0.3.0-alpha2
The second alpha release of KRadio 0.3.0 is now available. This release fixes many compile time and GUI problems encountered in kradio-0.3.0-alpha1.
Apart from fixes this release implements the long expected comfortable recording capabilities. Mixer recording source and IGAIN level are selected automatically. A recording monitor dialog is available that displays recording duration and current(monitored) volume.
In this release V4L2 support has been added, too. Errors and warnings are now accessible with a comfortable error log window.

Please test and report problems and errors! Though this release is labelled "alpha" KRadio 0.3.0-alpha2 seems to be rather stable.

Upgrade Information (0.2.x to 0.3.0)

Please note, that the station list format has changed from KRadio 0.2.x to 0.3.x. Old station lists will be read without problems, except station selections for quickbar and docking menu will be lost. They can be set up easily with the new configuration dialog now. Unfortunately your alarm setup from KRadio 0.2.x will be lost, too.

BACKUP YOUR STATION PRESET FILE! As soon as you quit kradio and the station preset file is written, any release of 0.2.x won't be able to read it any more. The configuration file kradiorc will remain backward compatible.

09/09/2003 Recording Support in CVS, V4L2 Fixes
Recording should be now usable for everyone. Please test! A patch against kradio-0.3.0-alpha1 can be found on the download page. Some V4L2 phantom problems (errors were reported for ioctls that should not have been called) are fixed, too. Details can be found in the ChangeLog.

KRadio-0.3.0-alpha2 will be released soon, this time with .rpm and perhaps .deb packages.

08/31/2003 Recording Support in CVS
Recording: Implementation of recording capabilities has been started. First experiments seem to be successfull. Please test! A patch against kradio-0.3.0-alpha1 can be found on the download page. Don't be upset about the missing recording icon. It will be added later. Many problems with alpha1 have been fixed, too. Details can be found in the ChangeLog.
08/17/2003 V4L2 Support in CVS
KRadio should now be v4l2 aware. Because I'm currently not able to test it myself, I'd be pleased if you could test it and report the results to me. It can be checked out on the KRadio CVS page on Source Forge.
08/16/2003 KRadio 0.3.0-alpha1

Finally a first version of kradio is available after the major rewrite. This version finally includes the improved GUI. Less visible are the internal architeture changes. Now it is possible to add new plugins, e.g. for Internet Radio Streams or alternative displays. Thanks to the contribution of many people around the world the preset data base grew up to 248 preset files from 18 countries.

Please test and report problems and errors! Though this release is labelled "alpha" KRadio 0.3.0-alpha1 seems to be rather stable, all functions known from 0.2.8pre1b should work, too. Only recording, V4L2 and the About-Dialog are not yet ready.

A Note for users of KDE 3.0 and/or gcc < 3.3: There are several compile time problems in KRadio-0.3.0-alpha1. A patch is available on the download page. It also includes V4L2 support.

Please note, that the station list format has changed. Old station lists will be read without problems, except station selections for quickbar and docking menu will be lost. They can be set up easily with the new configuration dialog now. Unfortunately your alarm setup will be lost, too.

05/15/2003 KRadio 0.2.8pre1b released

Fixed "Umlauts" problem (backport from CVS) and quickbar problem with mixed up stations. Many new preset files.

Please excuse the strange release numbering. Once apon a time it was planned to release 0.2.8 with the new design (introduced in pre2, which was not published because of missing color configuration and the fact, that green is possibly not everyone's choice). Some thoughts later it appeared that the internal structure had reached it's limit. The new structure is currently being implemented in CVS. Thus there will be no 0.2.8, only important bugs in 0.2.8pre1 will be fixed.

05/10/2003 preset files collection

Current preset files collection extracted from CVS.

01/17/2003 KRadio 0.2.7a released

Fixes missing xml escapes. For details see ChangeLog.

01/16/2003 KRadio 0.2.7 released

Configuration dialog is now in KDE style. Added a configurable "good signal" level. And many fixes that can be read in the ChangeLog.

Thanks to Klas Kalass. He added the germany/hamburg-antenna.krp file. If you like to contribute to the station preset database, please send me your <kdehome>/share/apps/kradio/stations.krp after filling out the About-Tab of the station configuration dialog.

01/13/2003 KRadio 0.2.6 released

A sleep function was added, many old ;) bugs fixed. Now kradio uses a more KDE-Like scheme for configuration files. Backward compatibility should have been kept. For details have a look at the ChangeLog

Now the preset database project has started.
